ANGLE CONTENT

FOR INDEPENDENT NEWSROOMS

We help independent newsrooms build branded content programs that hold up to their journalism.

Angle enables independent newsrooms to offer in-house branded content studios of their own. We do the work that makes the capability run, covering everything from discovery through renewals to the editorial standard your journalism requires.

BEYOND ONE-OFF SPONSORED ARTICLES

We don't write branded articles.
We build in-house branded content studios.

A studio is a named, productized program with tiered formats, a sponsor-facing brand, pricing logic, and a system around it. Once it exists, you can run it without rebuilding from scratch every quarter.

Part editorial shop, part revenue architect, part execution engine. The work sits where strategy, sales, and craft meet. That is precisely where branded content most often falls apart, and where we do our best work.

A studio is a capability, not a campaign. Because capability is what compounds, once it exists, every quarter starts from something instead of from scratch.

FOUR LINES OF WORK, ONE ENGAGEMENT

The full capability of an in-house branded content studio, run as one team.

Product & revenue design

What to sell, how to price it, how it ladders, and how it speaks to the sponsors your newsroom actually wants; not just the ones that show up.

Studio & format development

Named, repeatable content products with their own editorial format, visual identity, and place in the lineup, along with a sponsor-facing brand, a site to live on, and an operating system designed to transfer.

Find your community, team up: Look for local groups already working on your issues. Joining provides support, shared knowledge, a stronger collective voice for change, and strength in numbers.
Sales & outreach

Sponsor identification, cold and warm outreach, meetings, proposals, closed deals. Your team’s existing relationships get a protocol; new prospects get a pipeline.

Your life is your expertise: Your experience with how systems work (or don't) is valuable knowledge policymakers need. Share your story. Doing so helps them create better solutions.
Editorial & campaign execution

Every campaign produced to publication standard: writing, editing, art direction, photography, illustration, freelancer coordination, publishing, and launch.

FROM BUILDOUT TO REVENUE LINE

Two phases: build the offering, then run the revenue line.

A nine-month engagement in two phases. First, a three-month buildout that makes the offering real, with finished, published campaigns before you sell. Then a revenue operation that takes it to market. Angle carries the work between milestones, so it never becomes a second job for your team.

Phase One · Months 1–3
Offering buildout
A three-month build that turns the idea into a market-tested, sellable offering, including a slate of finished, published campaigns, before sustained outreach begins.
Map  the sponsor opportunity and priority categories across your footprint.
Design  the offering: formats, content experience, pricing, and fulfillment.
Build  the public-facing program: templates, sponsor recognition, and sales materials.
Publish  a launch slate of three finished campaigns, live before the first sale.
Phase Two · Months 4–9
Revenue operation
The offering becomes an operating revenue line, with Angle running the studio that takes it to market and brings campaigns in.
Sell  prospect outreach, sponsor conversations, custom proposals, and close.
Deliver  each closed campaign: production, publishing, distribution, and reporting.
Grow  ongoing pipeline management and renewal planning as the line ramps.
Phase Two can begin as Phase One wraps, carrying you straight from strategy into market execution. As the revenue line matures, Angle either hands it off to your team or keeps operating it alongside you. Your call.

Engagement size is set against scope and ambition. We size it together.

Proof & experience

Three programs that show the full capability: from a national newsroom to a studio built from scratch.

THE PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER · INQ STUDIO

Webby Honoree 2024
Best Multimedia Storytelling

Native Advertising Institute Gold 2025
Best Series

A year-long branded content series produced for Jefferson Health and Thomas Jefferson University, published with INQ Studio at The Philadelphia Inquirer. Angle developed the campaign proposal and editorial architecture that secured the partnership, set the series voice and standards, directed contributors and researchers, and ran editorial project management across print and digital through to publication.

Our role:

  • Won the partnership: Developed the campaign proposal, editorial architecture, and story calendar that secured the engagement.
  • Set the editorial standard: Defined the series voice; hired and directed contributors; led expert interviews; engaged researchers to ensure scientific rigor.
  • Ran execution end to end: Editorial project management across print and digital — packaging, schedules, stakeholder reviews, and publication with INQ Studio.

THE STUDIO MODEL, COMPLETE

The most complete instance of the Angle studio model: four editorial formats, a full brand identity, a sponsor-facing site, and an operating system designed to transfer. Built so the publisher can run it without rebuilding from scratch every quarter.

Our role:

  • Built the product. Four named editorial formats, each with its own brief, pricing tier, and place in the lineup.
  • Built the brand and storefront. A full sponsor-facing visual identity and the audience-facing site the program lives on.
  • Built the system. An operating playbook designed to transfer, so the publisher runs the studio without rebuilding it each quarter.
Dymond's Breakthrough

LONG BEACH POST · MERGE OPPORTUNITIES

At an independent local newsroom with no branded content program in place, Angle built the whole capability end to end: the products, the pricing, the sponsor pipeline, and the work itself. Dymond’s Breakthrough, a workforce-development feature profiling a Long Beach program changing lives one career at a time, is the kind of story that earns its place in the publication rather than advertorial dressed up as one. It then traveled as social content of its own.

$93K in new revenue, first six months — a branded content line built from scratch in a market that had none, by a two-person team.

“More stories like this one. This is what we need.” ❤

— Reader comment, Long Beach Post on Instagram

“Angle Content is a talented and versatile team, and I’d hire them again in a heartbeat…their creativity and professionalism were exemplary from start to finish.”

Lisa Hughes, Publisher & CEO, The Philadelphia Inquirer

AMERICAN JOURNALISM PROJECT

Angle delivered a workshop series on sponsored content to
AJP's partner news organizations.

“An incredible series of workshops that earned a net promoter score of 90%. We’ve since used it as a model of excellence.” — Lisa Heyamoto, VP, Portfolio Learning, American Journalism Project

A SECOND REVENUE INFRASTRUCTURE

Another Revenue Stream for News Publishers: Ticketing

Our branded content strategies help you grow sustainable sponsorships, but that’s not the only way to diversify revenue.

With Angle Tickets, newsrooms can help their communities thrive by powering local event ticketing, without the risk or operational burden.

What we'd build together depends on what you want to achieve.

We size the engagement to the ambition. The shape of the program, the first product, the first sponsor. All of it sharpens in the conversation.
